Kanye West and Kim Kardashian usually have all the luck in the world - but didn't Sunday.

Behind the scenes cameras at Madison Square Garden in New York City caught the couple backstage while Beyonce delivered an incredible 16-minute performance during the MTV Video Music Awards. 

Kim was waiting in the wings to introduce Britney Spears and her loyal husband had escorted her along. 

In a clip obtained by Us Weekly, the 39-year-old Grammy-winner and 35-year-old reality star were sitting in an area cordoned off by blue curtains both looking at their phones, as they could only hear the audience's loud approval of the mini-concert without witnessing it up close.
